WEATHER STATION

A weather station is operated at the centre with statistics being recorded at 0900 every day.

This information is entered into the BGfL daily and can be accessed through the Key Stage 2 or

Key Stage 3 geography sections.

 

 

INSTRUMENTS

The following instruments are used to record the climatic information each day :-

Anemometer - measures wind speed in kilometres per hour.

Wind Vane - measures wind direction.

Rain Gauge - measures precipitation in millimetres.

Barometer - measures air pressure in millibars.

Hygrometer - measures water content (humidity) as a percentage.

Maximum and Minimum Thermometer - measures the highest and the lowest recorded temperatures in the previous 24 hours plus the 0900 actual temperature.
